About Us

The school was found in 1997 by Rev Fr. Ezeoke as Nursery and Primary Schools. The first headmistress was Rev Sister Maria Dorathy (Mother of Perpetual Help congregation). The school began with a population of 127 pupils and 8 teachers. The Dominican Order took up the administration of the parish and the school in 1999 and the manager was Rev Fr Chukwubuikem Okpechi (OP). The school manager employed the Rev Sisters to help in the school administration. The first Rev Sister that headed the school under the Dominicans was Rev Sister Anastasia Okonkwo who handed over to Rev Sister Uju Christy Ogugua during the reign of Rev Fr Fortunatus Okeke (OP). The standard of the school was growing from high to higher which attracted many number of pupils. The Primary school got the government approval in 2008. The school turned out a good number of pupils graduating from primary to various secondary schools/ Seminaries around with good behaviour and sound academics. This growth gave the need to establish the secondary education to assure a grounded upbringing to the college level.

Hence, Rev Fr Dan Chezey (OP) in 2011 established the St Albert The Great College. Some of the staff were hired from the existing secondary schools around. In 2012, Rev Fr Alexus Agba (OP) took over the leadership of both the parish and the school. He employed permanent staff to teach at the college level. From 2013 the school expansion was met after the Government approval of the college. The upgrading inspection was followed immediately and the approval of WAEC and NECO were got in 2017 and 2018 respectively. In 2018, Rev Fr Alexus Agba handed over to Rev Fr Damian Anyalebechi Nwanna (OP).

Rev Fr Damian Nwanna (OP) came with the human capacity development idea which gave birth to skill acquisition/entrepreneurship education and scholarship to indigent parishioners. Presently, the school has included entrepreneurship education in its curriculum. This is to assure self-reliance of its students. As the students are growing academically, they also acquire some skills that would afford them a little economic relief. Some of these skills available include; Computer animation, cell phone repair, shoe making, leather bag making, electronic and electrical skills, musical and instrumentalist skills, craft and bridal etc. The college has turned out six sets of graduates who are now undergraduates and graduates.
