The school was founded by Rev Fr. Ezeoke as Nursery and Primary Schools. The first headmistress was Rev Sister Maria Dorathy (Mother of Perpetual Help congregation). It began with 127 pupils and 8 teachers.
The Dominican Order took over administration. Rev Fr Chukwubuikem Okpechi (OP) was manager and Rev Sisters were employed to support school leadership. The first Dominican headmistress was Rev Sister Anastasia Okonkwo, followed by Rev Sister Uju Christy Ogugua.
The primary school received government approval in 2008. Rev Fr Dan Chezey (OP) founded St Albert The Great College in 2011 to continue quality education to the college level.
After government approval of the college, WAEC and NECO accreditation were obtained in 2017 and 2018 respectively. Rev Fr Damian Anyalebechi Nwanna (OP) introduced skill acquisition, entrepreneurship, and scholarships for indigent students.
The school now includes entrepreneurship education such as computer animation, electronics, shoe making, leathercraft, musical skills, and more, alongside academic growth. Six sets of graduates are now undergraduates and graduates, prepared for life and self-reliance.
